This beautiful release of Cabernet reminds us that Cab can be both bright and dark; fruit forward and bold; soft and yet strong. The aromatic nose is redolent of mixed dark berries and currant balanced with hints of rosemary and herbs. The bouquet is full and round with a dusty chocolate aroma, a hint of lovely soft vanilla and just a dash of cinnamon.
As soon as this wine hits the tongue it explodes with flavor. Bright Bing cherries chase red plum around the palate. A light mint and whisper of floral is mixed with the essence of summer blackberries, which carries through to the finish. The well-structured tannins are soft, yet daring, allowing the wine to either be enjoyed with big bold meals or quietly sipped on its own.
This robust, silky and intensely inky-colored Cabernet Sauvignon wine is grown in the well-drained, stony and iron-rich soils of the Weir Family Vineyard along the Silverado Trail, one mile south of the famed Stags |
